New Golfing Painting –  5th Tee

Yesterday I did a quick painting study.

Here’s the 5th Tee Foxtail Golfcourse with a view of Taylor Mountain in the background. Fog and cloud cover is just beginning to lift this morning – a perfect day for golf. Actually almost any day is a good day for golf.

I usually do quick studies on smaller canvas panels to work out the composition, values and colors before beginning a larger piece.

I like making quick studies on smaller canvas panels, they’re much more economical…  Painting in this way allows me to work out the composition, values and colors before beginning a larger piece on stretched canvas.
