A dear friend of mine saw the DREAMS TAKE FLIGHT painting and asked if she could get something made to fit her office space. At first, I was just a little reluctant only because I knew it would be more difficult to work on such a smaller scale. It was good practice, especially since I just bought some new oils to paint plein air. More on that later…

Yep, my friend has a great sense of humor, could you see me hanging out with anyone that didn’t?!

Going from large to small

This one was a challenge for me, but I love the way it came out – those colors! SO in love with this color palette, even though it’s not for everyone. Working with them just makes you feel so joyful. Some days it’s easier for me to deal with the day to day chaos here in America, if I immerse myself in these happy colors.

Yeah, need to plant these IN THE GROUND later this year

Spring is near!

I feel spring right around the corner, even as this polar vortex is gripping half the country. Can’t wait for warmer temps, butterflies, hummingbirds, dragonflies and bees to make their way back here again. Just seeing the bulbs here in Sonoma County, CA. pop-up out of the ground, has me ready for the change in season.

Global Warming much? These have been up now since the end of December here in Sonoma County, CA

Even though I’m in love with this current color palette I have been working behind the scenes with new color combinations. You know what – so far they have SUCKED. Yep, I’m still trying to get a palette together that I like working with that gives me a LIFT! But there will be new colors coming out soon.

Hope you all are doing good, keeping warm, being creative, enjoying the silence, and reveling in just BE-ING.

Much love,

deb sigline

You’re doing as well with your art as your plants are doing with winter. Great to see and congratulations Deb. In BC we’ve gone from a tepid sogginess to ice and snow. All the new plants who thought it was almost spring are drooped and sad. But nature is resilient and spring will come.

Where in BC are you John? We visited Nelson (didn’t quite make it to Banff) and Vancouver when Bush was elected for a 2nd term, almost moved there- BEAUTIFUL country. Speaking of crazy weather it snowed here 2 nights ago – wowzer.

I’m in Vancouver, also known as Terminal City. You would NOT recognize it now Deb although the mountains and the ocean are still somewhat the same 🙂

Sad, isn’t it? Everything all around us getting built up… Same here, need to head south!

Once again it’s a lovely painting. I just enjoy the gorgeous colours and that it’s so full of life.
