In the Woods Abstract Painting

Newest geometric abstract painting titled  IN THE WOODS

I enjoy a walk in the woods om a regular basis, especially in these times. There’s nothing like a walk in nature to help ground your spirit, it’s almost magical.

In the woods abstract lines painting
In the Woods by Deb Breton. Textured. Measures 8 x 10 on stretched canvas.

“Any patch of sunlight in a wood will show you something about the sun which you could never get from reading books on astronomy. These pure and spontaneous pleasures are ‘patches of Godlight’ in the woods of our experience.”

  1. I love this so much! If I had the extra pennies, I’d purchase this one. And the quote is perfect. I’ll have to borrow it.

    1. I’m glad the art and quote resonated with you Chandra!

  2. Is that light reflected in the middle – or have you deliberately faded it out?

    1. Graham, that is airbrushed with white/mix to look that way 🙂

  3. You have a great vision and feeling for abstracts. I loved colors, as well.
There is a reason I don’t do abstracts: I love too much drawing. I never took any single class, but I just had a need to draw when I was a very small kid. There are no artists in my family either, and I’m always wondering where did this come from? I don’t need photos, and thanks to this drawing I developed extremely good visual memory.
When I look at good abstract art, I sometimes get the feeling I might do some, as well, however, when I get to paper or canvas the hand just starts to draw and act on its own. On one hand, I’m envious of that ability because any art should be abstracted to some extent, but on another hand, I also realize that a drawing talent just like the absolute pitch are quite rare.
Anyway, great art is there where the artist is honest and not afraid to express oneself using artistic tools and means.
There are quite a lot of your paintings which I really like. You are doing such a good job.

    1. Hi Inese! Your comment made my day, thank you. It’s funny, I grew up drawing too! As a sick kid, I spent a lot of time in the hospital throughout the years. I drew. A lot. It was my escape. I am a bit of a control freak, I like to have everything in its place, a dirty house drives me nuts. Maybe part of the reason I like abstract is it’s wild, organic and it’s the one time I give myself permission to make a mess in the studio. I admire your realism work Inese, you can tell you love what you do – it really comes through! Thanks again for the encouragement and for making my day!!
