Sail Away Painting

Sail Away 24 x 36 Acrylic on Canvas – Deb Breton

Just finished this painting for a friend as a housewarming gift. Though I like to paint with vibrant colors, I know she likes pastels. It was hard to tone it down 🙂

I also love to paint in abstract form, while she prefers more representational work. So it was hard for me to put in details when I wanted desperately to leave them out…I ended up using a palette knife for some of it which was very freeing. Years ago I would have spent a month or longer painting this and trying to get all the details. Now, years later it’s hard to put them in! I have to say though the lighter colors (less chroma) is a nice change of pace… Who knows, this could be the start of something new!

Have a great week ahead.

Sending lots of love and light your way…

Despite or maybe because of your struggles this is an excellent painting Deb. You’ve captured both sea and sky so very well. Congratulations, your friend should be honoured.

You think so John? Was hard for me to wrap my head around this one because of the conflicting style. Thank you. Guess I’m too close to it to see it, you know what I mean?!
